Laser vs. Traditional Liposuction

29 Apr Laser vs. Traditional Liposuction

laser liposuctionIn Long Beach there is quite the buzz surrounding a new laser liposuction technology. Traditional lipo is not the only option anymore and fortunately, more people are finding out about this exciting new development.

As a quick overview, traditional lipo uses a cannula (a hollow, stainless steel tube) attached to a powerful vacuum to extract fat deposits or bulges from beneath the skin’s surface. Some doctors perform liposuction under general anesthesia (where the patient is put to sleep), heavy IV sedation, or local anesthesia. Local anesthesia eliminates the need for narcotics post-surgery since the effects don’t wear off for several hours. A longer recovery time is needed for traditional lipo and there is substantially more pain involved. Also, an excess amount of fat may be accidentally removed due to the relatively large circumference of the cannula and its ability to quickly remove fat. Therefore, the results aren’t typically as smooth as they are with the VASER® Lipo System technique.

The VASER® Lipo System is gentle, safe, and often preferred over traditional liposuction for several reasons, as outlined below. It is fast becoming the replacement for the traditional lipo procedure that most people are familiar with. Most people know about lipo and believe it is the only option when it comes to fat removal due to its prevalence in cosmetic surgeon practices over the years. Now we know better and our patients do, too.

The newly introduced VASER® Lipo System uses ultrasonic energy (a laser) to break apart targeted fat deposits while avoiding surrounding tissue that could otherwise be damaged with other laser procedures. This highly effective laser lipo technique makes for smooth results, faster healing time (since patients are not put to sleep for the procedure), less downtime (return to work faster), and less bruising than is experienced with traditional lipo. Local anesthesia is used for laser lipo to avoid the risks associated with general anesthesia.

This outpatient technique is new to the Long Beach area. This vastly superior body contouring technique effectively and beautifully rids the body of unsightly fat patches in areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise. Common areas treated are the bulges that often appear on the back, stomach, hips, and thighs.

The VASER® Lipo System is a one-of-a-kind laser treatment that is an all-around safe bet that is as safe as it is effective. With this new lipo treatment, patients will never again seek out traditional lipo.
